We were invisible, that's what we thought

Updated: May 21, 2020

We were stuck in a room full of familiar faces cracking jokes and sharing hilarious experiences; unconsciously, we gazed into each other and laughed out loud like there's a connection between our eyes that we do not know anything about. It is as if despite the distance, your eyes search for mine and mine to yours and together react to everything they bring to the table. Everyone in the room noticed and curiosity came as fast as light.

We were invisible, that's what we thought.

In our free time, either one of us starts a conversation and laughs to the pettiest jokes thrown. Perhaps people are right when they say that if you like someone, just sitting next to each other would make everything less and you tend to focus on something shared between the two of you. We didn't notice people that came back and forth because we were so busy enjoying the little world, we both created. People started to get curious for they see the connection we failed to recognize. Then, they started to ask, and we were both surprised ‘cuz...

We were invisible, that's what we thought.

But now, I lost all the reasons to write more about you. I was after all romanticizing the moments we shared. The connection we have is purely just a connection - nothing more, nothing less. I failed to recognize that the laughter we shared was just for the time being. I failed to recognize that the stories that you shared was only because you felt emotionally fit with me. And our story ended just like how an old song ends, it just fades.

I woke up one day wanting to find a closure. Ironically, we didn't even have a concrete beginning to start with. So today marks the last day that I am going to write about you ‘cuz finally I have figured out that...

I am invisible.
