Waves of change

Updated: May 21, 2020

"Change is the only constant thing in this world."

Heard and used this line a lot before and up to the present. Cliche as it sounds, it has been one of my favorite response when being asked about some changes that are not into my ideals.

Truth be told, it is something we can no longer deny; changes happen anytime, anywhere. It may be on our favor or it can be the opposite. Either way, it is still the same - change.

When exposed to change, we tend to reject it and focus on the “this-is-how-we-do-it,” this phrase by the way is one of the killers of progress according to some surveys. It is just too ironic that we want change and when it arrives, we tend to shield ourselves to the point of rejecting it.

Whether we like it or not, the way we receive it can affect how we perform which will later turn into a vicious cycle. And when that happens, the question is no longer "How can I overcome it?" Instead "How does this affect me or the people around me?" If we react negatively, it will surely affect how we communicate to people.

I would like to point out and face the fact that no changes come easy. It comes with a hurtful truth that we are not doing well; hence, we need change. However, we have to bear in mind that without it, there would be no progress. Without it, there would be no success story; without it, we will end up with the same result.

Change is inevitable but it can be wonderful. We just need to know how to ride the waves of change but before we ride, we should know why we are riding it in the first place because without knowing its purpose, it can lead to worse outcome. Therefore, change coupled with understanding the purpose is powerful because through it acceptance can come easy.
